The Executive Chairman of Ebenco Global Link Limited, Dr. Ebenezer Oluwagbemiga, has called on Africans to abandon overdependence on imported solutions and embrace a bold new era of local innovation, fabrication, and industrial production across the continent.
Dr. Oluwagbemiga described Africa's long-standing reliance on foreign-made systems, technologies, and infrastructure as a major constraint to sustainable development, urging a decisive shift in mindset and policy direction.
We have to come out of this ready-made mentality that has consumed this country and kept it the way it is today. No nation can industrialize by permanently outsourcing its production, engineering, and problem-solving capabilities.
According to him, excessive import dependence—particularly within the energy, industrial, and manufacturing sectors—has weakened local value chains, limited employment opportunities, and slowed technological advancement across Africa.
He emphasized that Africa's industrial future depends on deliberate investments in indigenous capacity, homegrown engineering solutions, and locally fabricated infrastructure. Dr. Oluwagbemiga noted that when Africans build for themselves, they retain value, develop skills, and create resilient economies.
Ebenco Global Link Limited, he said, remains committed to driving this transformation by prioritizing locally driven projects, supporting indigenous technical expertise, and demonstrating that African companies can deliver world-class industrial solutions.
This is not just about Ebenco. It is about a continental mindset shift. Africa must move from being a consumer of imported solutions to a producer of industrial value.
Dr. Oluwagbemiga called on governments, private sector leaders, and young innovators to align with a shared vision of African industrialization rooted in local production, innovation, and self-reliance.
Through its pioneering work in modular refinery development, waste management, and marine logistics, Ebenco continues to lead by example—proving that African ingenuity can power Africa's future.
